Venue

The conference venue is the National Technical Library. [MAP]

The National Technical Library is located in Prague 6–Dejvice and surrounded by a university campus of the Czech Technical University in Prague (ČVUT) and the Institute of Chemical Technology (VŠCHT). The building is often described as a “high-tech living room” serving to students as well as to general public.
The fine new six-floor building houses over one and a half million volumes and is a huge new asset for the above mentioned universities and for the whole technical and academic community in the Czech Republic.
The interior expresses the openness and friendliness of the contemporary institution. The driving principle of interior design is collaboration and reciprocal influence. The important parts of the interior are the graphic design, which follows the technical schoolbook concept. In construction of the building many interesting technological solutions were used. Some of them help the flexibility, the others help save on energy demands.
The library is truly unique, which is also confirmed by the number of Czech Grand Design competition awards received by artists taking part in its construction.

Peklo Restaurant

On Monday evening, conference participants are invited to join the garden party and a buffet at the Peklo restaurant located in the immediate vicinity of the Prague Castle. The restaurant is set in an original wine cellar of Premonstratensian Order. The history of the place dates back to the 14th century when the king of Bohemia and Holy Roman Emperor Charles IV brought new grape varieties from France and the skilful Premonstratensians managed to grow wine grapes of such a high quality that the King presented them with a coat of arms for this achievement.

The features of the original cellars are well preserved and mostly left intact, although some of the ancient secret passages have been walled up. Although the name of the cellars "Peklo" is Czech word for hell, we hope that all guests will experience the Czech culinary heaven in the unique atmosphere of ancient times.
